Fastest-growing baby name, A character from the George R. R. Martin novels and hit HBO series has become so popular that it is the fastest growing girl's name of 2012, according to the Social Security Administration's annual list of baby names, released last week.

While Jacob and Sophia topped the list of top boy and girl names for 2012, CNN noted that Arya had jumped from No. 711 in 2011 to No. 413 in 2012.

Arya Stark is the youngest daughter of the Stark family, protagonists of the Martin novels and HBO series. Arya's reputation as a fearless fighter and stubborn tomboy who shrugs off gender norms has made her a favorite with fans.

The fastest growing boy's name of 2012 was Major, according to ABC News.
