N.J ocean roller coaster

N.J ocean roller coaster, Hurricane Sandy's wrath swept a Jet Star Roller Coaster from Seaside Heights, N.J., into the ocean last October, providing some of the most enduring images of the deadly storm. More than six months later, authorities said they would remove the roller coaster's debris from the ocean this week.

“Ripping it out of there and getting everything out of the ocean,” Casino Pier spokeswoman Toby Wolf told CBS New York. “[It’s] pretty close to shore and that’s a safety hazard for swimmers, surf.

“Seeing that visibly gone will be kind of a feeling of moving forward," she added. "A sense of moving forward.”

According to NBC New York, construction crews will begin removing the roller coaster following Prince Harry's planned visit to Seaside Heights on Tuesday.

The British royal will tour several storm-wrecked New Jersey shore towns before a press conference with Gov. Chris Christie.

Wolf also told CBS that Casino Pier has replaced the old roller coaster with a new ride, dubbed The Superstorm.
