Warriors fans killed

Warriors fans killed, Two Golden State Warriors fans died when a gunman raked their Porsche with bullets on Interstate 880 in downtown Oakland after they left the team's playoff game Thursday night, authorities said. The men were going north in the slow lane near the Jackson Street exit when someone in a dark sport utility vehicle pulled alongside from the left and fired several shots into their car shortly after 10:30 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said Friday.

The 2010 Porsche Panamera slammed into the guardrail before veering across traffic. The passenger, Terrance Marks, 28, of Richmond was ejected, or fell out, and was hit by another vehicle, possibly a box truck, said CHP Officer Sam Morgan.

The Porsche then hit the center divider before coming to rest in the slow lanes. CHP officers found the driver, Christopher Beardon, 30, of Pittsburg shot to death inside the car. Marks had also been shot and was found dead outside the car.

The shooting shut down the freeway for hours. Motorists, many of them on their way home from the Warriors game at Oracle Arena, were forced to shut off their engines and wait as authorities investigated.
Police did not provide a description of the shooter.

Both victims were wearing Warriors gear and had attended the playoff game against the San Antonio Spurs, said Oakland police Officer Johnna Watson. Authorities have not determined a motive, but believe the shooting wasn't random, Morgan said.

"It appears that this definitely was a targeted event from the way the rounds went into the vehicle," Morgan said. No shots were fired from the Porsche, he said.
