According to The Daily Mail, the incident occurred on an American Airlines flight from Los Angeles to New York City on May 9. It’s unclear exactly when during the flight the passenger started to sing “I Will Always Love You,” the Dolly Parton song that Whitney Houston made famous, but she was unwilling to stop. The repetitive performance was so disruptive to the passengers and flight crew that the plane was forced to make an emergency landing at the Kansas City International Airport.
According to a statement by airport spokesman Joe McBride, “There was a federal air marshal on the aircraft, who subdued the woman and put her in cuffs and removed her from the plane.” The video shows the Whitney Houston fan as she was removed from the flight, defiantly still singing the song.
In Kansas City, the disruptive passenger was interviewed by authorities, but was released without charge. McBride said that the woman was forced to find her own way to her destination after the airline refused to fly her back to New York. Thus far the only explanation the woman has offered for her behavior is that she’s diabetic.
